Merry and Bright Makes Christmas Both
Merry and Bright, published this year by Ballantine, is a predictable Christmas romance that has all the delightful qualities expected of a Debbie Macomber holiday novel.
Merry Smith, a temp at a business, prefers to avoid her boss, Jayson Bright, whom she views as a direct descendant of Scrooge, sans the visit of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Bah-humbug. Her days may be miserable, but her nights are heating up due to an on-line romance with J.
You guessed it. J. and Jayson are one in the same.
There are perfectly good reasons why the two main characters don’t immediately realize the identity of each other. And, of course, as expected, they have to reconcile feelings of betrayal and accusations of deceit once identities are known.
It's predictability is exactly why we love the story, love the characters, and the delightful outcome. It’s Debbie Macomber through and through. So grab an eggnog or hot cocoa and settle in for a fun read. After all, it’s a six-year tradition. Merry Christmas.
